Structured guidance for your journey to MRICS

Alpha Consulting Engineers is an independent RICS APC coaching and mentoring platform operated by Alpha Consulting Engineers India Private Limited. We support built-environment professionals in developing, documenting and confidently demonstrating the competencies required for their RICS assessments.

Our coaching covers the complete APC journey, from understanding pathway and competency requirements to guidance for preparing the Summary of Experience, Case Study and CPD record, followed by presentation development, technical questioning and realistic mock interviews.

In short: One proven process. Experienced mentors. Your competence, clearly demonstrated.

Who we support

We support candidates from different countries, professional backgrounds and experience levels across the:

  • Quantity Surveying and Construction pathway
  • Project Management pathway
  • Facilities Management pathway
  • Structured Training routes
  • Preliminary Review and non-structured routes
  • Senior Professional Route
  • Final Assessment
  • Referral preparation

Our purpose

Our purpose is not simply to help candidates prepare documents or memorise interview answers. We help professionals understand their competencies, evaluate their experience, strengthen their professional judgement and communicate their knowledge and advice with clarity.

Why Alpha Consulting Engineers was created

Many experienced construction professionals possess strong technical and commercial knowledge but struggle to translate their experience into the format expected during the RICS assessment process.

Some candidates find it difficult to:

  • Select suitable project examples for each competency.
  • Distinguish between Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 requirements.
  • Demonstrate personal involvement rather than general team experience.
  • Structure the Summary of Experience within the prescribed word limits.
  • Select and develop a suitable Case Study.
  • Clearly explain the options considered and advice provided.
  • Present their Case Study confidently within the allotted time.
  • Answer technical, ethical and scenario-based questions under pressure.
  • Identify the reasons for a previous referral and prepare an effective improvement plan.

Alpha Consulting Engineers was created to bridge this gap through structured, personalised and professionally responsible mentoring.

We do not replace the candidate’s experience or professional judgement. We help candidates examine their own experience more critically, identify gaps and present authentic evidence of competence in a clear and professional manner.

What makes our mentoring different

A consistent mentoring standard

Our coaching is not dependent on the personal working style of an individual mentor. We follow a defined Standard Operating Procedure that is consistently applied across the candidate journey.

This ensures that candidates receive an organised sequence of reviews, technical development, feedback and interview preparation.

Personalised guidance within a structured process

Every candidate brings a different combination of experience, projects, strengths and development needs. Therefore, the content of our mentoring is personalised, while the quality-control process remains consistent.

We review the candidate’s actual experience and develop the preparation strategy around the relevant pathway, route, competencies and assessment timeline.

Competence development, not document preparation alone

A well-written submission is important, but writing quality alone cannot demonstrate professional competence.

We help candidates understand the technical principles behind their experience, evaluate the decisions they made and explain how their knowledge was applied in practice.

Focused Level 3 development

Level 3 requires candidates to demonstrate reasoned advice and professional judgement. Our mentors challenge candidates to explain:

  • The situation and client requirements
  • The available options
  • The advice provided
  • The reasons supporting that advice
  • The associated risks and disadvantages
  • The proposed mitigation measures
  • The outcome and lessons learned

This approach helps candidates move beyond describing what happened and demonstrate why their professional advice was appropriate.

Detailed and constructive feedback

Feedback is specific to the candidate’s submission, Case Study, presentation and interview performance. We identify unclear statements, missing evidence, unsupported claims, competency gaps and areas where stronger professional reasoning is required.

Candidates are then given clear actions for improvement.

Authentic and ethical preparation

We do not encourage fabricated project experience, copied submissions or scripted answers. Candidates remain responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of their submissions.

Our role is to provide structure, technical challenge, professional feedback and focused preparation so candidates can demonstrate their genuine competence effectively.

Our structured RICS APC coaching process

Nine stages, from your first route review to your final readiness check.

  1. Initial candidate and route review

We begin by understanding the candidate’s qualifications, professional experience, proposed pathway, assessment route, selected competencies and intended submission window.

  2. Competency mapping and gap analysis

The candidate’s professional experience is mapped against the relevant mandatory, core and optional competencies.

  3. Submission planning

Candidates are encouraged to begin early so there is sufficient time for reflection, revision and quality improvement.

  4. Summary of Experience review

The Summary of Experience is reviewed progressively rather than treated as a one-time proofreading exercise.

  5. Case Study development and review

Candidates receive guidance on selecting an appropriate Case Study topic and presenting it as a professional account of their own involvement.

  6. CPD and technical knowledge development

Candidates receive structured CPD support through live or recorded learning, technical discussions, reading resources and competency-based revision.

  7. Case Study presentation development

The aim is to help the candidate deliver a clear and professional presentation without sounding memorised.

  8. Question preparation and mock interviews

Potential questions are developed from the candidate’s own Summary of Experience, Case Study, CPD record, chosen competencies and professional background.

  9. Final readiness review

Before the assessment, the candidate’s overall readiness is reviewed. Remaining technical gaps, weak responses and presentation risks are identified.
