Our mentors

Two MRICS mentors. One standard of coaching.

Alpha Consulting Engineers is a RICS APC coaching and mentoring practice run by two practising MRICS professionals. Both mentors are RICS assessors, and both coach candidates themselves, one to one.

In short: you are coached by the people whose names are on this page, using one consistent process.

How both mentors coach

The purpose of RICS APC coaching is to help you recognise, develop and demonstrate genuine professional competence. We do not encourage fabricated experience, copied submissions or scripted answers. You remain responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of your submission. Our mentors provide the structure, technical challenge, feedback and preparation that help you present your competence effectively.

The same principles apply whether you are starting out, preparing a Preliminary Review, approaching the Final Assessment or returning after a referral.

Mentoring the complete APC journey

Saroj has mentored hundreds of RICS APC candidates worldwide, including experienced professionals pursuing the Senior Professional Route (SPR). His support extends across the complete assessment journey, from understanding pathway requirements and developing competency evidence to preparing submissions, strengthening professional judgement and facing the Final Assessment confidently.

How he challenges candidates

His extensive professional background enables him to challenge candidates beyond theoretical definitions. During mentoring and mock interviews, he examines whether candidates can:

  • Justify their decisions.
  • Compare alternative options.
  • Identify contractual and commercial risks.
  • Propose appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Demonstrate the level of professional judgement expected by RICS.

Mentoring philosophy

His mentoring philosophy is centred on developing the professional behind the submission rather than preparing documents solely to pass an assessment. Candidates are encouraged to reflect on their genuine experience, recognise competency gaps and communicate their knowledge, actions and advice with clarity.

What candidates say

Successful candidates have particularly valued his ability to simplify complex subjects, identify weaknesses in professional evidence and provide direct, practical and constructive feedback. Many candidates have publicly acknowledged his structured guidance, technical sessions, one-to-one discussions and mock interviews as important parts of their successful MRICS journeys.

Webinars and professional learning

Alongside individual mentoring, Saroj regularly delivers free webinars as part of his commitment to giving back to the construction industry and supporting the wider professional community. These sessions make practical knowledge and APC guidance accessible to professionals at different stages of their careers.

He also delivers professional learning sessions on:

  • Construction contracts and procurement
  • FIDIC contract management
  • Claims and dispute avoidance
  • Mediation and commercial strategy

His continuing involvement in RICS assessment, professional mentoring, contract management and dispute resolution brings practical and current industry insight into every stage of the Alpha Consulting Engineers coaching process.

She is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, RICS Assessor and RICS Accredited Evaluative Mediator.

With a background in civil engineering, construction economics and quantity surveying, she combines technical knowledge, commercial understanding and a highly structured approach to candidate development.

Pathways and routes

She guides candidates across the:

  • Quantity Surveying and Construction pathway
  • Project Management pathway
  • Facilities Management pathway

Her mentoring experience includes candidates pursuing RICS membership through the Structured Training, non-structured and Senior Professional Route (SPR).

How she reviews your submission

Her mentoring places particular emphasis on understanding each candidate’s actual professional experience. She carefully reviews the candidate’s Summary of Experience and Case Study, identifies weaknesses in the evidence presented and provides focused guidance to bring the submission to a high professional standard. Through detailed feedback and progressive reviews, she helps candidates strengthen their professional reasoning, demonstrate the required competencies and communicate their experience clearly and authentically.

Final Assessment preparation

Her approach to Final Assessment preparation goes beyond preparing a list of probable questions. Candidates are trained to understand why a question may be asked, how to structure a clear answer, how to justify their professional advice and how to respond when an assessor challenges their decision. She also provides detailed feedback on Case Study presentations, helping candidates improve their content, delivery, timing, confidence and overall presentation skills.

What candidates say

Successful MRICS candidates have publicly credited her detailed competency knowledge, carefully planned CPD sessions, submission guidance, presentation coaching and mock interviews as instrumental in their preparation. Candidate feedback also highlights her patience, precision, encouragement and ability to identify areas requiring further development.

Teaching and public learning content

Nomomita has delivered guest lectures to built-environment students and regularly supports the wider RICS APC community through educational webinars, LinkedIn posts and YouTube videos. Her public learning content addresses common candidate difficulties, including:

  • Case Study selection and structure
  • Summary of Experience writing
  • Competency requirements
  • Ethics
  • Presentation delivery
  • Level 3 answering techniques
  • Final Assessment interview preparation

The mediator’s advantage

Her work as a mediator further strengthens her ability to listen carefully, analyse different perspectives, identify the central issue and ask focused follow-up questions. These skills are particularly valuable when reviewing candidates’ professional advice and preparing them for assessor challenges.
